Chrome is in if Fortnite has anything to say about it. The latest update spits out chrome everywhere, consuming entire areas as it slowly leaves its mark on the map. It’s not all bad, though. You can use chrome to your advantage in the game, such as phase through buildings and become a deadly blob. With concerns to the latter, we’ll show you exactly how you can use the Chrome Blob feature in Fortnite Chapter 3: Season 4.

Becoming a Chrome Blob in Fortnite Chapter 3: Season 4

Season 4 of Fortnite is all about chrome. A strange substance, chrome, spreads across the map, completely consuming Sanctuary and turning it into Herald’s Sanctum. Other areas on the map feature the substance too. You can take complete advantage of chrome in the game, though. Use it right, and you can transform into a Chrome Blob, making you temporarily unstoppable in a Fortnite match.

So, how do you become this shiny blob of substance? Well, there are two ways:

  • Enter a Chrome Tornado
  • Find Chrome Splash

To find a Chrome Tornado fast, head to Herald’s Sanctum as a tornado surrounds it. If you pass through it, chrome will consume your character. Simply sprint to turn your Fortnite character into a Chrome Blob.

Alternatively, you can search in Chrome Chests or use your pickaxe on Chrome-covered trees to find Chrome Splash. This Epic consumable is like a grenade. If you toss it at your feet, your character is covered in chrome. Now, do the same as you would after going through the tornado. A sprint is all you need to transform into a Chrome Blob in a Fortnite match.

A Chrome Blob is handy when you need to escape danger quickly. As a Chrome Blob, you become faster and can dash through the air, which makes it difficult for Fortnite opponents to catch up. Also, there’s no fall damage. So, feel free to roll off the highest structure as a Blob.

Or you can use your Chrome Blob to ambush an enemy, barely giving them time to react as you zoom in close.

This effect only lasts until the chrome itself wears off. In this case, be strategic as to when you use it.
