A Roblox myth is any Avatar on the platform that associates itself with a mysterious username and backstory. This is the odd and the bizarre of Roblox. Ranging from scary to silly, the existence of these Avatars are often unexplainable. But, there are just enough clues scattered by the creator for players to piece together theoretical information.
This is where myth hunting comes in. There is an entire community involved with myth hunting and it’s a fun way to discover interesting stories about Roblox Myths together. This community hunts down clues and comes together to share what’s been found about any particular Myth. More and more, the secrets are revealed. Or are they?
How to become a Roblox Myth
As a Myth creator, you are the story teller, aka the lore master. It’s your job to create an interesting character, an interesting backstory, and perhaps an interesting Roblox game to tie it all together. Only then can you truly become a Roblox Myth. That is, if the Myth Hunters deem your character worthy.
It all starts with a Roblox account. Chances are you don’t want your primary account to be your Myth since your character requires an established look. Unless you do! It’s your choice to decide, but we assume you’re using a secondary account for this guide.
Create your Account / Draft your Character
You’ll need a general idea of your Roblox Myth character to start. Don’t worry, it doesn’t need to be a fully formed character yet. Designs and backstory will most likely change during the entire creative process. To get started, you’ll need a new account and, most important, a username.
Some prompts to follow:
- Numbers should only be used if they are significantName should hint at a larger meaningName can also point toward a Family or GroupWill your name align with your Avatar costume? Why or why not?
Remember: This is your creation. Meaning, be open to your own creativity as much as possible. These prompts are designed to spark your thinking and brainstorm more ideas.

Design your Avatar
The design of your Avatar should reflect your Myth’s username in some fashion. This will, most likely, require Robux to gather all the necessary items and accessories for your costume. Don’t just purchase at will, though. We recommend using the Sandbox Roblox Extension to preview your full costume before making any purchases. That way you don’t waste Robux on something you won’t end up using for the final character.
Spend time with your design to make sure your Myth represents the vision you’ve been storing in your head!
Create the Backstory
You’ve most likely been thinking of your Myth’s backstory at this point in the creative process. It might help to write out half a page to a page of story now. Follow these prompts for ideas:
- Does your Myth have a tragic past? Why or Why not?Who is the most important person/thing to your Myth?Does your Myth have any family or friends?Does your Myth have a job? What does your Myth do in its free time? What makes your Myth the most happy? What frustrates your Myth?Where did your Myth come from?Where is your Myth now?
Answering at least one to two of these questions should help you form a stronger image of your Myth.
Remember: Roblox Myths are shrouded in secrecy. You shouldn’t provide the full bio you’ve written in the Avatar bio or the Game. Instead, drop some clues and hints that are vague, but just enough to interest Myth Hunters. Your goal is motivate the community to piece the story together themselves.
Make the Game
This is an optional step, but hey: this is Roblox, right? It might benefit you to create a unique Roblox game that allows Myth Hunters to discover more about your Roblox Myth. To learn more about the Roblox Studio, check out How to make a Roblox Game.
Spread the Word!
When your Roblox Myth and/or Game is created, spread the word! Join Myth Hunter communities, ask friends to share your Myth and Game. Whatever way possible to share your Myth, make use of it! The more people hear about your creation, the more established you will become as a Roblox Myth. Good luck!
