At the beginning of Cyberpunk 2077, you’re given a chip that inserts the personality and computer-generated soul of Night City’s infamous rockerboy Johnny Silverhand into your head. He hitches a ride with you everywhere you go, allowing the pair of you to have conversations, and these interactions are important and are critical at specific points in the game. If you’re smart and pick your cards right, you can become friends with Johnny, and doing so gives you access to one of the alternative endings that work out far better for you and Johnny.

The opportunity to become friends with Johnny occurs at the end of the side mission, Chippin’ In. The side job features you giving control to Johnny and him speaking to Rogue. At the end of it, Rogue and you take down Grayson, an old partner to Adam Smasher, who killed Johnny. You receive Johnny’s gun, his jacket, and his Porsche during the mission. At the end of the mission, you’ll drive over to where Johnny’s grave supposed is, and find nothing. The next pieces of dialogue are essential.

These are the choices you’ll have with Johnny at the end of the quest.

  • Relentless RockerboyNight City LegendTerrorist and Raging AssholeThe Guy who Saved My Life

Of the choices, you want to remain in good faith with Johnny, so picking anything by the Terrorist and Raging Asshole bit is your best option to continue with a relationship that remains meaningful with him. We typically went with The Guy who Saved My Life as it seemed the best way to remain positive. After that, there will be another series of dialogue options.

  • A hard road, but looks like we made itNah, messed that up too.Johnny, no need to bare your soul to me.

For these choices, the first two still over the best outcome and unlock the Blistering Love quest. The last option where you advise Johnny not to bare your soul to you shuts him down far harder. We recommend you go with any of the top two dialogue options.

If you choose the “Nah, messed that up too,” you can shut down Johnny by telling him this was his second chance, and he blew it. But the other option is having V ask what Johnny wants from them. The second option leads into a dialogue tree where you warn Johnny this is his second and last chance, and he becomes ecstatic to try once more, to make it up to his friends.

If you go with the “a hard road” choice, it’s a bit more of a direct path to a more positive outcome with Johnny. The next two choices, “You were a real problem at the beginning” and “Shame we didn’t talk like this earlier,” bring you to the same path. The real choice is when you focus on how Rogue handled the last mission. These are your choices.

  • C’mon, already haveSmasher biz really got to her

Of the two options, you want to go with “Smasher biz really got to her” to convince Johnny he still has more to work on with her. That will convince him to ask you to go out on a date with Rogue, and if you agree to call her, you’ll gain access to the Blistering Love side job.
