Whether spooky season is upon us, or you live that spooky life 365 days a year, there is no doubt you will want to bring some of that Halloween love into the games you play. In Minecraft, you can do just that by carving pumpkins.
Obtaining Pumpkins
Pumpkins are naturally generated throughout many different biomes and are sometimes found in village farms as well. You can also get pumpkin seeds in chests you may find in dungeons, mineshafts, or other pre-generated structures. In order to grow a pumpkin from seeds, you must have an open space next to where the seeds were planted.
Carving Pumpkins
Once you have found or grown your own pumpkin, you do not need a crafting bench to carve it. You can carve it right on the ground. All you will need to do is use sheers on it, and sheer the pumpkin the same way you would sheer a sheep. Once you have sheered your pumpkin, two eyes and a squiggly mouth will appear on your now-carved pumpkin. You will also receive a stack of four pumpkin seeds.
You can either use it as décor, or even wear it on your head. Wearing a carved pumpkin on your head will partially block your vision, but it will also prevent you from making eye contact with endermen.
Jack O’Lanterns
If you are decorating with the pumpkins, you can also light one up with a torch. Place a torch on the bottom row of your crafting square or table, and then place the carved pumpkin directly above it. This will allow you to craft a Jack O’Lantern that will turn yellow on the inside, and the block will give off light at a level of 15 (one higher than a normal torch). Mix and match your pumpkins, carved pumpkins and Jack O’Lanterns for the perfect Halloween look in Minecraft.
