The Scarab Beetle in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is definitely a bug worth catching. Not only will you need to get at least one for Blathers to get your Golden Bug Net, but you can also sell this little guy for 10,000 Bells at the Nook Shop, making it one of the most valuable bugs in the game. As such, make sure you drop one off at the bug-hating Blathers, then use the rest to fund your real estate fantasies.
The Scarab Beetle can be caught between 11pm and 8am, so you will need to be out and about at night to get him. In the northern hemisphere, he will show up between July and August, while in the southern hemisphere, he will be available from January to February. He can always be found on trees.
If you hand it to Blathers, you will get the following dialogue. “Collectors consider the scarab beetle quite the prize, thanks to its shiny metallic shell. But did you know this bug has no nose and uses its antenna to sense smells instead? In fact, the scarab beetle’s plated antenna are quite unique and set it apart from other beetles. But all antennae are equally awful in my book.”
