Latias is a Dragon and Psychic type Legendary Pokémon and is part of the Eon Duo a long with Latios. What Latias lacks in attack, it makes up for it in defense as one of the more beefy Pokémon to battle against.

The counters for Latias will be identical to those of Latios since they both are Dragon and Psychic types. Even with Latias knowing the Electric move Thunder, it won’t be too much of a threat. The type of Pokémon you will want to use against Latias are Bug, Dark, Dragon, Fairy, Ghost, and Ice types.

Dragonite

The Dragon and Flying type is a no brainer when it comes to facing other Dragon type Pokémon. You will have to worry a little if Latias has Thunder as its charged move, as it will be more effective against the Flying type of Dragonite. You’ll want a move set consisting of Dragon Tail and Outrage in this battle.

Tyranitar

The Dark and Ground type Pokémon is going to be super handy against Latias since it can know dual dark moves. If you run in to Latias knowing Thunder, it won’t be as effective. Bite and Crunch are the moves you want your Tyranitar to have.

Latias/Latios

If you’ve managed to catch either one of these Dragon and Psychic type Pokémon, they will be a great asset to your team. Just remember that dual Dragon type moves are the way to go. Dragon Breath and Dragon Claw are what you want to have.

Gardevoir

This Fairy and Psychic type Pokémon will be a great addition to your team since Fairy types are lacking a place in Pokémon GO. The moves you want Gardevoir to have are Confusion and Dazzling Gleam

Articuno

The Gen 1 Legendary Ice and Flying type Pokémon will be really handy since it knows powerful Ice type moves. You will want Frost Breath and Ice Beam as your moves to freeze Latias in its tracks.

Now that Latias is defeated and you’ve successfully caught it, you’ll have great Pokémon to use in Gym Battles and Raids. Catching Latias will also help you in your quest to achieve the Dragon Tamer Medal as well.
