Pokémon GO serves as an example of a mobile game with longevity. Originally released for iOS and Android devices in 2016, Pokémon GO introduced many to the world of augmented reality games. This game made it possible for people to search for Pokémon in their everyday lives. GO has retained a loyal and thriving player base, one that even draws in new players to this day. One of the most important things for a new player to learn in Pokémon GO is how to catch Pokémon.

Step One: Select a Pokémon from the overworld to initiate an encounter. Players will then be brought into a map with a Pokémon facing them down.

Step Two: Select which type of Pokéball to use on the Pokémon. This can be done by selecting the Pokéball icon in the bottom right corner of the screen. Pokéballs can be collected from Pokéstops.

Step Three: Select berries to make catching the Pokémon easier. There are multiple berry types, each with its own effects. Ensure to read the descriptions of a berry to see what boons it’ll provide during an encounter.

Step Four: Check the circle around the Pokémon to gauge where the Pokéball should be thrown. Try lining up the circles as closely as possible. Players can throw Pokéballs by flicking them by swiping their fingers on the screen. Try adding some spin to the Pokéball by making a rotating motion before launching it at the Pokémon.
