Tallnecks are incredibly large machines that appear somewhat like a giraffe. They give players a larger perspective of the map without having to scale every inch of it and mark many of the locations nearby. However, the Tallneck at Landfall isn’t functioning and is currently submerged on the coastline.
Diagnose the submerged Tallneck
You can find the head disc of the Tallneck sticking barely out of the water off of the southeastern coast of Landfall. To start “climbing” this machine, players will need to swim out to the head of the Tallneck and scan it with the Focus. Afterward, players will be prompted to examine the submerged socket in the body of the Tallneck.
This will then prompt players to swim over to another structure to grab the Tallneck’s missing pieces. The half underwater structure is home to a Frost Glinthawk which players will need to kill in order to find the pieces. Once it has been downed, players will need to break the lock on the ladder and push the crate into the water to reach it.
Scavenge the Tallneck parts
After pushing the crate in the water, head over to the building and use a pullcaster to pull the crate up against the wall with the ladder. Climb up to the roof with the ladder. Then use the tight rope to reach the more dilapidated part of these ruins.
Head off to the right side first to grab the large Tallneck part embedded in the floor of this crumbling building. There are several more machines underwater here, so be careful while crossing the water. Players can glide further over to the next section of this very broken building.
Inside this next building, use the pullcaster to reach the second level where another Glinthawk is waiting. The second piece will be right beside the Glinthawk. Whether players choose to deal with the machines or not, from this second level they can use the rope to slide back to the previous section of the submerged building.
Climbing the repaired Tallneck
After collecting these two parts, head back to the Tallneck to repair it. Once it’s been repaired, it will start back up and start swimming around this general area. Players will need to head back to the largest part of the dilapidated and submerged building that is close to the Tallneck’s path in order to jump on its lower spines. From the lower spines, players should have a fairly easy time climbing up the back of the Tallneck. Once reaching the top, override the Tallneck to gain access to the full map of the island.
