Riots Shields in Warzone 2 are an absolute menace that you should respect. They are the best tool for guarding a high-value location and are even effective while holstered on your enemy’s back. Dealing with them is not easy, but there are effective means for removing someone using one from this mortal coil. We happen to know them all, so here are the best ways to counter riot shields in Warzone 2.
Countering Riots Shields in Warzone 2
The first thing to note is that riot shields are completely indestructible. No amount of firearms will destroy one, so the focus should be on getting rid of the wielder instead. When a wielder has one equipped, it is difficult to uproot them through sheer firepower. So, used round-a-bout means instead:
Thermite: Thermite deals AOE(Area of Effect) damage to anything near it. Since it can stick to solid objects, that includes riot shields. If you stick a riot shield user with Thermite, they will die, making it a very strong counter to it. Molotov: Molotovs explode into a patch of flame on impact with a solid object. Riot shields do not stop these flames, so they are forced to move and get out of them before they burn to a crisp. This lets you or your teammates strike while they are moving. Shoot their feet: Riot Shield users must crouch to keep their feet from being exposed to gunfire. This means their range of movement in a firefight is typically limited to a slow crouched crawl. Use any of the tools on this list to get them to expose their feet, then fire away with a gun that can send lots of lead downrange. Angled Explosives: Riot Shields are completely immune to explosions. However, the wielder is not. So, use explosives like Sentex, frags, grenade launchers, and/or rockets and aim for the wielder behind the shield rather than the shield itself. Rocketing the ground behind a riot shield user facing you will kill in one shot, so long as they aren’t using Bomb Squad.
Drill Charge: Drill Charges bypass surfaces to strike at those hiding behind them. While typically used to clear out heavily guarded rooms, they can also be attached to the front of a riot shield to kill the user behind it. Stun/Flash/Gas/Smoke Grenades: Riot Shield users must be fully aware of where shooting is coming from to block with the shield. However, if their ability to perceive outside stimulus is taken away from any of these grenades, they are vulnerable to being flanked and shot past their shield. Bomb Drone: These floating C4 drones are a massive threat to everyone on the battlefield, which remains true for Riot Shield users. They must respect and guard your drone toward its blast if they see it. However, if you simply float near them, they will panic and move around, desperate to avoid the incoming blast, allowing your teammates to crush them in their frenzy to escape.
