Earthquake, also referred to as TM149, is a TM in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet that deals 100 points of Ground-type damage, which is Super Effective against Fire-, Electric-, Poison-, Rock-, and Steel-type opponents. There are many pocket monsters that can learn Earthquake by leveling up, but Trainers can effortlessly teach this Ground-type Move to a wide variety of Pokémon by using this TM. For instance, Chansey, Ursaring, and Hariyama would typically be unable to learn Earthquake on their own. However, TM149 enables these three pocket monsters and many more to acquire this effective combat Move in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

Unlocking Earthquake TM149 in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Before Trainers can craft and give Earthquake TM149 to one of their pocket monsters in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, they must unlock the TM’s crafting recipe. This is done by defeating five Trainers within the Asado Desert, far northwest of Mesagoza. Once five of these NPCs have been defeated, head to the Pokécenter in North Cascarrafa.

Where to Find Hyper Beam TM in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

A League Rep will be standing in front of the Pokécenter on the northern side of Cascarrafa. Speak with this NPC to receive the Earthquake crafting recipe as a reward for defeating five Asado Desert Trainers in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Next, players will need to visit a TM Machine and craft Earthquake using specific materials. Fortunately, a Pokécenter is right beside the spot where they unlocked the TM, meaning that players can conveniently access the crafting screen to see what they need.

According to Game8, Trainers will need the following materials to craft the Earthquake TM149 in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet:

  • League Points ×12,000
  • Phanpy Nails ×5
  • Diglett Dirt ×3
  • Barboach Slime ×3

Acquiring these resources requires players to search for these three pocket monsters in Paldea. Catching or defeating these creatures will yield the materials they need to make TM149. Phanpy can be found in multiple locations across the Asado Desert, the same location where Trainers defeated the five NPCs. Diglett can also be encountered within the Asado Desert, albeit only on the northeastern corner of the sandy locale. Conversely, Barboach can be quite tricky to find, but a choice place to search for some would be the southern coasts of Paldea.
