To craft Heartrunes in New World, you must first gather the basic versions of the Heartrunes. The first variant of Heartrunes is called Minor Heartrunes, so If you want to get Minor Heartrunes, the best way is to focus on expeditions. In short, you can get basic versions of Heartrunes by completing various expeditions. However, expeditions will reward different Heargem Runes that you can use as is or later upgrade using multiple resources. That said, the following are all expeditions in New World that reward Heartrunes as rewards. 

  • Tempest’s Heart Expedition: Rewards Minor Heartrune of Dark Ascent (Drops from Isabella).Ennead Expedition: Rewards Minor Heartrune of Detonate (Drops from Heru).Garden of Genesis Expedition: Rewards Minor Heartrune of Grasping Vines (Drops from Alluvium Marl).Barnacles and Black Powder Expedition: Rewards Minor Heartrune of Cannon blast (Drops from Admiral Blackpowder).

  • Lazarus Instrumentality Expedition: Rewards Minor Heartrune of Stoneform (Drops from Chardis).

In all five Expeditions listed above, you can use unique expedition materials called Materia to craft the runes or get the Heartrunes as drops. To use Materia to make Minor Heartrunes, you must farm Materia from killing the final bosses during Expeditions. However, you need to farm over 8k before crafting any Minor Heartrune.
