Elden Ring is the first Soulsborne game to feature crafting, and you can make a whole lot more than just arrows. You’ll need plenty of those for Elden Ring’s ranged classes, to be sure, but there are books’ worth of things to piece together in this world. In fact, you’ll need literal cookbooks to make a lot of them. Here’s how to get started.
Step one, you need the Crafting Kit. Start by heading to the Church of Elleh Site of Grace, found just north of the starting point. There you’ll meet a merchant named Kalé who sells the kit you need. With that in your possession, you’ll have access to the crafting menu at all times.
Kalé also sells cookbooks, each of which expand the list of items you can craft. Be on the lookout for more of these in the wild or for sale from other NPCs — each one makes the list grow even longer. Upon checking the menu, you’ll see all items for which you have a recipe, and those ready to make will be highlighted. Hovering over any of these items, including those that are grayed out, will not only tell you what the crafted item is and does, but also every necessary ingredient. Highlighted items are ready to be crafted; the others are missing something from your inventory.
This is where things get a little broad. There’s a wide variety of resources in Elden Ring, from rare plants like Arteria Leaf to animal bones and meat. Anytime you see glowing plant, be sure to press the gather button to add it to your inventory — you don’t want to be caught without the basics. Same goes for animals. It might be tough to do some times, but killing those critters will win you lots of resources. Birds, for example, drop Flight Pinions. Just remember ABG: always be gathering.
