Along with the super handy Back Tap feature, headphone audio customization is a notable addition to Accessibility in iOS 14. It lets you fine-tune headphone audio output with supported headphones including AirPods Pro and Beats. Whether you are an audiophile who likes to get the most out of your headphones or just wish to enhance the audio quality for a better listening experience, you would like to customize headphone audio in iOS 14 and iPadOS 14.
Notably, the headphone accommodation feature works with not only music and movies but also phone calls. As is mostly the case with new iOS features like the automatic reduction of loud headphone audio, it currently supports only Apple hardware including AirPods Pro, Beats Solo Pro, or Beats Studio (mainly those with active noise cancellation).
Now, tap on Accessibility.
Finally, you have the option to choose if you want the custom audio profile to apply to Phone, Media, or both. Besides, you also have the option to fine-tune audio for a balanced tone, vocal range, or brightness. Do note that, optimizing for a balanced tone will provide a boost over a range of frequencies.
So, that’s the way you can use the headphone accommodations feature on your iPhone and iPad. While I really appreciate this all-new feature, I wish it supported third-party earphones/headphones as well. Else, a large number of iPhone owners won’t be able to use it.
