Ember Labs’ first title, Kena: Bridge of Spirits, has been one of 2021’s biggest surprises. Its heartfelt story lends itself to tense boss battles, including the tragic Toshi boss guide.
Unlike other bosses in Kena: Bridge of Spirits, Corrupted Toshi is just a single phase, but as a seasoned spirit himself, Toshi serves as a substantial challenge. Check out our step-by-step breakdown of how to handle the game’s penultimate boss battle:
- Corrupted ToshiCorrupted Toshi is slow and methodical, moving with purpose throughout the fight, and he has an impenetrable guard. Use Kena’s Dash attack to break his guard. Use Rot abilities and combo attacks to inflict large amounts of damage while he’s stunned.Don’t use Rot abilities before stunning Toshi, as he can parry them. When he’s close to Kena, Toshi will use a quick three-hit combo that ends in an extended lightning punch, repeatedly dodge to avoid the brunt of this attack. If his melee attack is cloaked in fire, it’s a five-hit combo that ends in a shockwave strike. Get as much distance between Kena and Toshi as possible, as this combo shreds health.Toshi can also use his sword from afar. When he readies his blade from across the map, get ready to shield or parry as he’s preparing a dash attack.Watch out for when Toshi rises into the air, as he has several attacks that he uses while airborne.Homing Beams-sends several spirit orbs that track Kena, dodge rapidly to avoid this attack.Spirit Lance-Toshi throws a glowing spear at Kena from the center of the stage, make a well-timed dodge to avoid taking damage.Ice shockwave-Toshi throws his Spirit Lance into the center of the stage to send a shockwave through the ground, followed by several tree root spawns that send successive reverberations. Be ready to jump up and avoid the pulse attack.Save as many Rot charges as possible for the end of the boss fight and spam them to finish Toshi off and end this boss encounter.
