During your time at the Caria Manor in Elden Ring, you will run into many powerful enemies, including a boss in the Moongazing Grounds. To get through the grounds, you will have to face Royal Knight Loretta. This boss fight can be tricky, so how can you defeat Royal Knight Loretta in Elden Ring?

Royal Knight Loretta fights on horseback, and you cannot summon Torrent during the fight, so get ready for a mobile boss. On top of Loretta fighting on horseback, she will also bombard you with Magic attacks from range, so your options are either to close the distance and chase, or avoid the magic attacks and launch your own ranged attacks against her.

Where to find Loretta

The Royal Knight Loretta boss battle can be found in the Caria Manor grounds in the northwest section. After reaching the Caria Manor Upper Level Site of Grace, go up the stairs to the right and defeat all the enemies. At the top of the stairs, continue forward through the archway, and there you will face Loretta.

How to counter Loretta’s Magic Attacks

Loretta will use magic attacks very quickly against you during the fight. Right away, Loretta will most likely use the Glintblade Phalanx, which summons seeking magic swords. Your best bet is to dodge these, especially if you can roll in close toward the boss. Loretta will also launch a barrage of ranged spells that are not as powerful but can be difficult to avoid.

During the second phase of the fight, Loretta will use a charged Greatbow attack, which needs to be avoided at all costs. She will typically only use this attack when she gets far enough away, but try to stay in close, time the shot, and attack her after.

Spirit summons are available during the fight, so one can pull aggro if her magic attacks are not giving you enough time to get off attacks. Her melee attacks do not differ much, so it is possible to dodge and get in close for some massive damage.

Royal Knight Loretta Drops

After defeating Royal Knight Loretta, she will drop two pretty powerful items. One is the Loretta’s Slash Ash of War, which causes you to leap up, coat your weapon in Glintstone magic, and slash down. The other is the spell Loretta’s Greatbow, which requires 26 Intellect but is the powerful attack used by Loretta in the boss battle.
