After completing the main quests of Ares Island in Sonic Frontiers, players will eventually be confronted by the massive, flying serpentine Titan known as the Wyvern. The boss battle with this dragon-like beast is more cinematic than an actual challenge, yet players still might struggle to defeat this Titan. To get started, fans must first ascend a soaring tower to get on “even footing” with the Wyvern. After getting to the top, Sonic will need to make his way across a series of red digital tracks to reach the Chaos Emerald. This sequence is quite simple, requiring players to only dodge fireballs while following the linear route to the Wyvern Titan boss in Sonic Frontiers.

Wyvern Boss Fight in Sonic Frontiers

Once Sonic has acquired the Chaos Emerald, he will transform into Super Sonic, a form capable of taking down the formidable Wyvern boss in Sonic Frontiers. The objective while pursuing the Titan in the air is to parry its missiles and attacks, causing it to become vulnerable for several seconds.

How to defeat the Tank Guardians in Sonic Frontiers

Many Sonic Frontiers fans might mistaken the quick-time parry event with the Wyvern’s missiles or claw-slashing as a moment when timing must be perfect for executing a parry. However, this is not the case. According to YouTuber Quick Tips, all players need to do to parry the monster during this flight sequence is hold down the triggers on both sides of their gamepad. No timing is required, as Super Sonic will perform an automatic counterattack if players perform this input.

After parrying an attack, players will receive an opportunity to deal damage to the Wyvern for several seconds before the camera returns to the boss chase sequence in Sonic Frontiers. Keep in mind that the Titan will eventually execute multiple attacks that Super Sonic must parry. This can be done by holding down the triggers once before releasing and holding them down again to parry the follow-up attack. Similar to Phase 1, no timing is required for these scenarios. Much of the remainder of the fight is purely cinematic, requiring only players to perform QTE button pushes, including one identical to the fishing minigame with Big the Cat.

Sonic Frontiers is available for PC, PlayStation 4, Playstation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
