Minecraft Speedruns are one of the most fun and challenging things you can do in the game. Your skills and knowledge of Minecraft are pushed to their absolute limit in any speedrun.

However, an All Bosses Speedrun is one of the most challenging of all Minecraft Speedruns, and it’s a category that many attempts, but few get good times in.

What is an all bosses Speedrun in Minecraft?

To complete an all bosses Speedrun in Minecraft, you need to defeat the three mobs considered “bosses” in the current build of Minecraft. These are a Wither, The Ender Dragon, and an Elder Guardian.

These bosses have some unique steps to defeat them, so keep reading to find out more.

Defeating the Wither

The Wither is the first boss attempted because of the difficulty of farming the materials to summon the mob. Making a Wither requires three Wither Skeleton Skulls, a rare drop from Wither Skeletons. The drop rate on these is 2.5%, meaning that if you killed 100 Wither Skeletons, you’d only get two skulls on average. This means that the grinding for Wither Skeletons part of the run can take up most of the run.

One current strat is to find an overworld location such as a Shipwreck or Desert Temple and hope you get a Looting Sword or Axe. Looting will increase the chance of Wither Skeletons dropping Wither Skeleton Skulls by 1% per level. This means that a Wither Skeleton will drop a Wither Skull 5.5% of the time with a Looting III Weapon.

Once you have the material to summon a Wither and defeat the boss, you’ll move onto the Ender Dragon.

Defeating the Ender Dragon

While you’re farming Wither Skulls in a Nether Fortress, you should take the time to also farm Ender Pearls and Blaze Rods. This ensures you can travel to a Stronghold and then to The End. Blazes should be your secondary priority of mobs to kill in a Nether Fortress, with Endermen last.

The ways of farming Ender Pearls are based on your spawn. If you have a lot of gold, you’ll want to use it to trade with Piglins. Alternatively, if you’re able to find a Warped Forest Biome, you can quickly farm Endermen for the pearls this way.

Locate the Stronghold, travel to the End, and defeat the Ender Dragon as normal to move on to the final stage of the speedrun.

Defeating an Elder Guardian

The Elder Guardian is the final boss, left until last because of its quick kill time. To find an Elder Guardian, you’ll need to travel to an Ocean Monument. Since one Elder Guardian always spawns in the top room of an Ocean Monument, you can quickly locate and kill it.

Elder Guardians are best killed using an underwater TNT exploit using TNT, Sand, and a Lever. Place a Sand block on top of the TNT and then the Lever on the TNT. Flip the Lever and detonate. Since an Elder Guardian only has eight hearts on Normal Mode, this should kill the Elder Guardian in one or two blasts.
