A Fatal Strike is one of the features related to the Tales of Vesperia’s combat system. Given his natural fighting skills, Yuri learns them by observing others but unfortunately, we are not Yuri, and we don’t learn so quick all the related tricks.
Fortunately, we wrote this guide to explain everything you need to know about Fatal Strike in Tales of Vesperia.
Tales of Vesperia Fatal Strike
Fatal Strikes are a mechanic unlocked during the final quarter of the first part of the game. Using these advanced techniques, you will be able to give a hard time even for the most challenging bosses. Last but not least, one other significant advantage they offer is providing an additional grade, drop rate depending on which deadly strike you use and a potential increase in EXP and the weapon skill experience.
Fatal Strikes Types | How to Use Them
There are three different Fatal Strikes:
- Blue – up arrow
- Red – down arrow
- Green – right arrow
Every enemy has three bars (blue, red and green). Check the bars to see when the correspondent Fatal Strike becomes available (too low these bars you have to attack the enemy wither rates or normal attacks corresponding to the associated Fatal Strike).
After depleting the bar, a glowing symbol which color corresponds to the related Fatal Strike will appear on the enemy for a limited time. It’s time to make your move: press the trigger button and wait to the Fatal Strike to hit (please remember that some Fatal Strikes has a limited range, so you’re not so sure it will 100% hit in any situation).
If you’re in a party, you can take advantage of it and initiate a Fatal Strike on the same symbol to deal up to significant damage for bosses (please note that it is useless on most of the regular enemies).
Fatal Strikes Weaknesses and Resistances
Please note that even if your enemy is resistant toward a specific Fatal Strike, it doesn’t mean you should surrender yourself and not use it: as we said before, you gain bonuses in any case.

Make the most of Fatal Strikes: Fatal Strike Chains
As we have seen, Fatal Chains provide us with rewards. If you thought that’s all, you were wrong: there is also a way to obtain even greater rewards: Fatal Strike Chains. We explain to you how they work.
When you don’t execute a finisher when you can kill an enemy and opt to leave him alive, you will notice that a Black Aura will appear around him: this will start a Fatal Strike Chain (handy because a Fatal Strike Chain let you earn more EXP, LP, and items).
Carrying on a Fatal Strike Chain is pretty straightforward: all you have to do is wait until the enemy has depleted one of his bars, leave him alive without executing him (basically don’t make any move related with that bar). Then repeat until you think it’s enough.
Please note that to carry on a Fatal Strike Chain, the one who started it doesn’t have to be hit, and the enemy must continuously take damage.
Now you are ready: go and (fatal) strike them all.
