Dragon-type Pokémon can look like anything nowadays, and most of them can be found in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet. Included among these are one of the most interesting dragon-type evolutionary lines: Applin, Flapple, and Appletun. If their names didn’t give it away, they are each designed after apples.

Appletun is the first evolution in the line, and to evolve them into either Flapple or Appletun, you’re going to have to do a little bit of work. Unlike most Pokémon, you can’t evolve them by simply training and leveling them up. So, if you have an Applin, and you’ve been working at evolving them into a Flapple without any luck, then keep on reading!

How to get Flapple in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

To evolve Applin into Flapple, you need to first make sure that you have an item in your bag called Tart Apple. This shouldn’t be confused with the Sweet Apple as this is used to evolve Applin into Appletun. You can find either of these items at any Delibird Presents location for 2,200 Pokédollars each. All you need to do is use the Tart Apple on Applin and watch as the evolutionary cutscene unfolds.

After this, you’ll have Flapple in your inventory as well as added to your Paldean Pokédex. Before you do this, however, you’ll want to ensure that your Applin has the nature that you want, because it will be transferred to Flapple. This cannot be changed and is different across every Pokémon you catch.
